Under the patronage of H. E. Dr. Fatema Mohammed Al-Balooshi, Minister of Social Affairs, the Rotary Club of Adliya in cooperation with “Ispektrum” a group of independent dedicated artists, will be organising an “Earth Day” art competition on 21st March, 2008.

The proceeds from the event will be utilised to build an art workshop for people with special needs. Part of the proceeds will also be used to assist destitute Filipino workers to facilitate their repatriation. The art workshop is a high priority project of the Ministry of Social Affairs which will be dedicated to Bahrainis with low and moderate mental disabilities.

The event will take place over one full day at the Marina Club in Manama.

Three groups will be participating at the event:

    1. Primary and intermediate students from both public and private schools
    2. High schools students
    3. Local and resident persons of special needs

In addition, there will be a “walk-in artists” category which will not be part of the competition but rather collaboration among artist from different areas of expertise. Artists will receive a special participation certificate from the Rotary Club of Adliya.

All art material will be provided on the day. Renowned local artists will select the winning paintings at the end of the day in which their creators will be rewarded in cash and other prizes as well as receives a special participation certificate from the Rotary Club of Adliya.

Sponsorship for this event is still available. We are looking for community- and environmentally-aware individuals and corporations who will encourage and engender the spirit of creativity and respect for nature and the environment in our young.

Apart from the customary highly beneficial exposure our sponsors will receive through various media outlets who will be invited to cover this event, the sponsors will also walk away with the winning painting in their chosen sponsorship category! These paintings will be especially framed complete with a plaque detailing information about the painting, its artist and the event.
