The idea of involving children to be the main component of the Earth Day Art Competition is to explore their views regarding the environment they are going to inherit. It was wonderful seeing their creations on canvas. They created powerful images which are sometimes pessimistic and others optimistic, but regardless of the feeling one gets emotionally, objectively their work shows the level of awareness they have for the environment and their will to change it for the better.

These two movies are available for sale on a specially produced DVD. The DVD is available for sale for BD5 each, all proceeds of the sale will go to the Rotary Club of Adliya Charity Fund.

It is the same story in moving images. We gave a video camera and technical assistance to Arif Al-Yousif (14 years old) and Ahmed Karimi (10 years old) to tell us their story about the environment around the Art Competition’s venue and also integrate it with a documentary about the competition. What they came back with is very worthwhile and received very encouraging reviews from children and adults who so the movie above.

The Rotary Club of Adliya encourage these two young gentlemen to continue to contribute to their society by telling stories like these to bring awareness to the issues they find interesting.

Please tell others about this movie and invite them to view it here.

Deeply believing in community service, we all pitched in to help the Rotary Club of Adliya make a success of their main annual fund-raising event: The Earth Day Art Competition which happened on March 21st, 2008 in the Marina Club in Manama with over 200 children and adults participating. Of those, there were 21 children and adults with special needs.

We arrived at 7am and didn’t finish until 7pm. We helped not only in filming the event – which was Mario and Mahmood’s responsibility – but Sudheer also mentored two kids to make their own movie about the environment and a report about the day. Ali (our Jack of all trades) helped a lot as well.

All in all, we determined after this event that we will take part in more charity events in Bahrain to help our community. Our company now has committed to give each one of us one full day to do anything that would benefit the community, or do something outside of their normal responsibility within the company.

Gulf Broadcast would love to help in your company’s corporate communications endeavours. Please contact Gulf Broadcast for more information. Their office telephone number is Bahrain 1759 9059.
